TOMO SAKURAI

Born in Nagano, Japan, graduated from Yokohama College of Art in 2007 with a degree in graphic design. A painter who excretes the polarity of things in black and white, she has struggled with the contradictions of the world since her teenage years, and balances her body and mind by painting. She simplifies her concepts and interpretations by using monochrome, and expresses them in black and white, where the contrasts of light, shadow, and unevenness are at their most beautiful. The artist's philosophy is to make viewers aware of mesotheism by expressing contrast. With an exhibition at the Carrousel du Louvre (France) in 2022, he began producing conceptual art that combines upcycling of bamboo and mourning clothes with contemporary art, and is widely disseminated in Japan and abroad. He has been exhibiting his works widely in Japan and abroad. Major solo exhibitions include "Y=(0.298912*R+0.586611*G+0.114478*B)" at Amalgam Art Gallery, Tokyu Plaza, Tokyo (2022), "Accumulation" at Faramarz Lounge & Gallery, Tokyo (2022), and "MONOCHROME2020" at the SAKURAI Gallery, Tokyo (2022).
