―Artist Statement―

Looking at the ceiling. The stains on the ceiling gradually start to look like pandas, but it seems that I am looking at them and adjusting my perspective. Gradually, my vision shifts from reality to my brain, from the stains on the ceiling to the view of the kingdom. If I close my eyes, I can go anywhere. Where is the mind? It has no gravity and cannot be seen. Each living thing evolves to cope with its environment in order to survive. Eyes that can see clearly even in the dark, legs and feet specialized to catch prey, the ability to breathe underwater, and brains that work systematically to reproduce. In the midst of all this, primate ningen decided to have a mind. Was this irrational choice the right one? Cognition, emotion, decision-making, language development, memory, learning Walking to the bus stop in the morning. I walk to the bus stop in the morning. It’s Wednesday. This bus is going to a factory area, so I guess he is going to his business partner. He is free in his clothes and hair, so he might be going to his atelier like me. We can make certain predictions, and our theory of mind automatically works to try to understand the minds of others. Without a mind, you don’t get hurt so badly by certain things that you start withdrawing and your loneliness reaches its peak, and it doesn’t even affect your body. Without the mind, we would not feel the joy and elation of kissing the person we love after a long period of approaching and becoming lovers. You exist on a wide range of mental activity that the brain produces. I create another kingdom in my brain, and I paint a picture of their living gaze as it moves back and forth from reality, and you, the viewer, are free to imagine what you see based on your own experience. How will your theory of mind work?
